ORIGIN’s primary objective was to orchestrate energy demand at a community level with the aim of better aligning it to local renewable generation. The team at Heriot-Wat managed the demand side of energy use in three validation communities: in Scotland (Findhorn), in Portugal (Tamera) and in Italy (Damanhur). The communities were selected based on their prior investment in renewable energy generation systems and commitment to a sustainable approach to energy resources.
